STEM/SeaPerch
SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that provides students with the opportunity to learn about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) while building an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) in an in-school or out-of-school setting.

2015 Training News

2015Nov: Training catalog updates are in progress. NSCC Winter Training opportunities are available.

2015Oct: The Grayfox team will be working with the Navy Recruiting District to support the Seaperch robotics competition in SE Michigan. The competition will be in April 2016.

2015Sep: The upcoming training will focus on crew training to secure ship systems and to winterize the ship.

2015Aug: The Grayfox team is developing several new programs to expand the training opportunities to include adult education, partnering with educational institutions. A catalog of future training will be distributed in the fall.

2015Jul: Training has been focused on testing shipboard systems in addition to general shipboard training. This has included engine operations and test, pipe patching, HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning), and fire-fighting.

2015May04: Sea trials were completed on Apr 25-26 and the ship performed well. A small number of discrepancies were identified. Spring clean-up is in effect.

2015Apr20: Our summer training plan has been prepared, yet still fluid. All of the Grayfox equipment has been tested and Sea Trials are planned. The ship looks a bit Gray on the outside, cosmetics are planned.

2015Mar11: Summer training plans have been submitted to Navy Sea Cadet HQ and will be posted in their Summer Training program. We are also planning several special training opportunities in the next month.

2015Jan23: The Grayfox training team is planning for 2015. You should be submitting your wish list now, using the Event Request form. We are coordinating with NSCC, a dive team, STEM team, and Canadian Sea Cadets for summer training.

2014Nov11: Many of the training syllabus are included on this page and on the NSSC Sea Cadet website. The Grayfox team is working on a robust set of STEM training curriculum and advanced training for adult professionals. Contact us if you would like to contribute.
